Veidileysufjordur lies between Hesteyrarfjordur and Lonafjordur. No permanent residence has been in the fjord for more than 100 years. One of the remnants of human presence is the low grass walls of the Meleyri whaling station and the outdoor camps that campers often use! The fjord is beautiful with steep mountain slopes. A lagoon rises from the fjord. It is relatively easy to walk up the valley and enjoy the view over the northern side of Hornstrandir and it is a good walking route to Hornvik coast over Hafnarskard. As the name of the fjord indicates, it was not thought that there was much fishing there, it is still not quite right, although it is not great.
